Homework Policy
Regarding Tarea- The most up-to-date homework assignments are what you need to write down in you homework assignment pad EVERY DAY in class. If you are absent, you can check this website and try your best to do the homework (**even though you have time to make up absentee work if you're sick). Otherwise, you should be completing any and all assignments given in class. Gracias.
Extenuating Circumstances/Religious Observations:
Please contact me with any abnormal circumstances that inhibit normal academic progress. Accommodations can and will be made in these events.
Late Homework Assignments:
- If homework was left at home, incomplete, or there is no parent note indicating a technological problem, the assignment will be given a zero.
- If the assignment is shown one day late, it will be given half credit.
- Any assignments given after one day late will be given a zero and not be able to be credited points.
Technological Problems:
- In the event of a technological/internet/printer problem, students can always email me with their answers and I can give full credit for that assignment.
- Otherwise, a parent signed and dated note is required in order to receive full credit.
- If there is no note present, the assignment will be given a zero and follow the "Late Homework Assignment" policy described above.
Absent due to Illness:
- The student has as many days and he/she was absent to make up any missing assignments. On Home Access, there will be a blank space, which will be computed as a zero until the assignment is handed in after the number of days absent.
- After that allotted amount of time, an assignment handed in one day late will be given half credit.
- Any assignments handed in thereafter will be given a zero and not be able to be credited points.
**School policy states that a student who is absent due to illness for 3 consecutive days can contact his/her guidance counselor who will then contact the teachers. The teachers will, if desired by the parent and student, leave work in the Main Office at 2:30pm on the third day of absence.
Assessment Make-Ups: An appointment can be made with me to go to the Media Center or to come to Extra Help before school to take any missing assessments due to illness. Depending on the length of illness and make-ups for other classes, please speak to me about the most convenient and earliest time to make up assessments based on other work for your classes. Until the assessment is completed and graded, there will be no score on Home Access which may compute as a zero until the score is entered.
Absent due to Vacation:
- It is encouraged to inform the teachers and guidance counselor of a student's absence due to vacation, as well as the Main Office. There is an option to assign any work that the student may miss to be completed before coming back to school.
- Under normal circumstances, any assignments not completed when returning to school will be considered late and will follow the "Late homework assignments" policy stated above.
Assessment Make-Ups: Assessments missed during a vacation should be done before leaving for the vacation or immediately upon return.
Absent due to Band/Outside trip:
- You are responsible for any missed work, including homework and planned assessments, that is due the date of your return to class. If you do not have the assignment, you will get a zero and must follow the Late Homework policy above.
- It is a good idea to come to me and show the assignment that is due before going to your band lesson or before leaving for your trip. If I see it, you will get full credit that day and not have to worry about showing it to me the next day.
Assessment Make-Ups: Any assessment that you will miss should be completed BEFORE the period/day of your lesson or trip (unless it is a pop quiz that is not announced previously).
